View of countryside close to village.
Local school close to village.
Our first view of the village Nainarkovil 2 1/2 hours south of Madurai. about 500 people and typical of villages away from the city.
Old school room where eye camp was set up. Nurses set up the eye camp in 110-degree F heat. No fans for hours. Took a long time to get electricity to building with the help of village men.
Every village has a lake and a temple. Lakes have been dry for over 5 years. A disaster! This is the local lake.
Road to school and eye camp.
The schoolyard. This used to be a beautiful school. Nothing is functional now. Only one room used. Very sad to see the loss of this school to the village. No water or services to the school.

Frank and I walked the village after a while visiting with the people and children of the village. We met these children early on our walk.
Children during our walk. The girls were very shy. The boys more forward. They all warmed up soon. So sweet! I loved the kids.
